Jacksonville Axemen Rugby League

Under the guidance of Axemen Coach, Wayne Forbes, 10 new Coaches have been accredited from the Central Florida Warriors, Tampa Mayhem and Jacksonville Axemen.

Over the past 2 months the participants in the NRL Club Coach Program have been working through the 6 online modules as part of the preparation for this past weekends practical modules and coaching skills assessments.

Axemen coach Wayne Forbes is a level 3 NRL Accredited Coach and also a course instructor that allows him to deliver the program to interested individuals. A variety of players, current team coaches, administrators, and even a current referee, undertook the course that ended in 10 new accredited “Level 1 Club Coaches” for the three Florida teams.

The final part of the course was held on Sunday in Jacksonville, and started with a morning of classroom sessions where delivery and discussion focused on the management and administration side of being a successful coach. The afternoon session comprised of practical application of drills, techniques and time management during coaching sessions.

The Level 1 Accreditation will now allow the new coaches to deliver Rugby League to youth teams as well as adults. With the success of the Youth Program that was hosted by the Central Florida Warriors over the past season, the possibility of expanding the Youth program to more teams in the South is now being considered.

The Axemen want to thank Wayne Forbes for his tireless efforts during the season to ensure a successful outcome for the 10 participants.
