2013 Axemen Squad Looks Strong at Training Camp
The Firehouse Subs Jacksonville Axemen kicked off the team’s 8th season with the annual Training Camp last weekend. The rainy weather didn’t stop over 40 potential players from coming out to fight for roster positions and the guys played a tough scrimmage in the wet conditions. Drew Slover, Axemen general manager was impressed with the turn out. “This is the most talented group we’ve had show up for a training camp, and it should give the Axemen some depth as well as improve the level of play with our minor league teams.” The camp commenced the return of co-founder and Axemen legend Spinner Howland who will be returning as Head Coach this season. “It was a good camp; there were definitely some standouts with the new guys. Kenny Britt also looked impressive on his come back, and will be a big asset to the team this year. It’s also great to have Brent Shorten back, who will be helping coach this season as well.” Come see your favorite Axemen players in action and cheer the new players on at the Clash of the Codes game on May 18th against the Florida Rugby Union All-stars.
