The G’day USA initiative for 2008 will see 10 days of events and in 2008 the Australia Week Committee is continuing with the expanded G’Day USA program, which will include a series of events in Los Angeles and New York.
The addition of the Australia Day Challenge in Jacksonville will see it become an official satellite event and be promoted via all the mediums that are currently by the G’day USA program.
To start the week of celebrations a Black Tie Gala is held in LA. The Black Tie Gala Dinner honours three high profile individuals for significant contributions in their industries and for excellence in promoting Australia and last year the event honoured Naomi Watts and Russell Crowe with a tribute in memoriam to Steve Irwin.
Growing from its inception in 2004 and celebrating its fifth year of success, Australia Week is now arguably the largest foreign country promotion held annually in the United States showcasing all things Australian from trade and investment, food and wine, film, arts, fashion, lifestyle, to indigenous culture and tourism.
The founding sponsors of this event include The Australian Governments Department of Foreign Affair and Trade, The Australian Trade Commission and they are joined by QANTAS Airlines and Tourism Australia that has one of the website for all things Australian at www.australia.com where you can find some of the best info in visiting the land downunder.
