Axemen Game Report: Round 2:

The Firehouse Subs Jacksonville Axemen 12 game winning streak came to an end last Saturday in a 34-20 loss to the Philadelphia Fight. The battle was fierce from the start, and the Axemen defense held the Fight from scoring until late in the first quarter. In the second quarter the Axemen tied up the game with a try scored by Jaime Uyttewaal but the Fight answered back with a try to make it a 10-6 scoreboard at the half. Into the second half the Axemen tried to catch the Fight with three more tries, (Shorten, Defau, Cock) but plagued with dropped balls and unlucky penalties they were unable to stop the Fight’s scoring momentum. “The team fought hard but the attitude wasn’t where it needs to be” says Axemen captain and coach Brent Shorten. “We know what we need to work on in this week’s training and we are pushing forward from this point on.” The Jacksonville Axemen return home this weekend and take on the Boston 13’s for the first time since defeating them in the 2013 USARL Championship. Come and cheer on the Axemen at 5pm Sat. June 15 at the UNF soccer field next to Hodges Stadium
