Axemen resume their winning way and Hatchets draw with the Gearheads
The a two week stretch that saw the Axemen lose their first game in a year and a half, and their injury count climb into double digits, the Florida team found more than enough passion in the depth of their roster to post a great win over the weekend.
The New Jersey Titans were unlucky on at least three occasions not to get across the line as the pressured the Axemen defense, but it was pure determination and the sting of the recent lose to the Philly Fight that kept the Axemen team working as a cohesive unit.
The game was a lot tougher than the score indicated with some very heavy defense coming from the New Jersey team and some very powerful runs that at times took four Axemen players to stop. It was the outside backs that showed the class however finding gaps out wide that allowed Kenny Britt to bag six tries for himself during the game.
In the Firehouse Subs Florida Championship, the Jacksonville Hatchets traveled to Daytona to face the Gearheads. The game was a solid outing for both teams with the final score being 12 all after the Hatchets head a 4 – 0 lead at halftime.
The Axemen now return to Jacksonville this weekend after being on away for the last month as the face the Rhode Island Rebellion.
