Axemen Up For The Challenge VS Mayhem This Weekend
The 121 Financial Jacksonville Axemen will take on the Tampa Mayhem this Saturday, July 14 at their home field at the University of North Florida. With the Axemen sitting pretty at the top of the South Conference ladder, the Mayhem are looking to tie things up after losing to the Axemen in the first week of the competition.
In the last meet-up between the teams in Tampa, the Axemen started off dominating the game but let the Mayhem close the gap with a 32-24 final score. This was the closest score the Axemen have seen so far this season, so they are preparing carefully to face the Mayhem again. Tampa is currently in 2nd place after a win over the Atlanta Rhinos in game 3.
“We are really excited to play Tampa again,” said Coach Rutgerson. “It should be a great game, 1st place vs 2nd, and Tampa have recruited some new players and are a much better team. We have been making some improvements as well and are ready to put on a great performance for our home town fans.”
A win this weekend would ensure a home playoff game on August 4th, and after a disappointing playoff loss in Tampa last season, the Axemen are eager to secure this spot.
