As the Firehouse Subs Jacksonville Axemen begin to wrap up their season, they remain a strong as they were when the season kicked off. It was a hot and tough day of rugby league for the Baltimore Blues as they ended the day on the losing end of the 88-0 final score. Tries were produced from chip kicks, hurdling defenders, and simply plowing through Baltimore’s defense. Tries came from Joshua “Bottle Longenecker (4), Cade Pollard (3), Matt Clark (2), John Hamilton (2), Dylan Beaver, Jay Defau (1), and Brendan Beedle (1). Beedle had the try of the game when he hurdled a defender to give him an open lane straight to the try zone. The ball was spread around very evenly throughout the Axemen squad which made the variety of tries possible. Conversion kicks came from Mat Keeley, Matt Clark, Dylan Beaver and Brent Shorten completing 9 for 16 conversions.
The turn out of fans was fantastic with about 2,500 people in attendance for this game. Next weekend is the final regular season home game for the Axemen against a strong side from Rhode Island. A win against this team gives the Axemen home field playoff game which will greatly satisfy the Axemen fans. Join us next Saturday with dollar beers and five dollar admission in a bash between two teams that are hungry for the playoffs. Tickets will be sold at the door, for more information go to JAXAXE.com.
