Jacksonville Axemen Rugby League

Fans Should Expect Plenty of Action in the 2013 Clash of the Codes Match:

This weekend the Firehouse Subs Jacksonville Axemen will play their first match since returning to Jacksonville last August as the USARL Champions. The Axemen players have been training hard and are determined to exhibit a championship team performance in front of their fans and sponsors. Brent Shorten, Axemen captain and assistant coach has been leading the charge. “It is crucial that we maintain the momentum from last season and carry on with focus in practice and competition from the start.” After two weeks of practice the veteran Axemen players have introduced the talented rookies to the demanding fitness regimen and the team is ready to make their 2013 competitive debut. The Clash of the Codes match will be played one half of each code of rugby and the Florida Rugby Union team is up for the challenge. “The fans should expect to see a highly entertaining game with the two codes being slightly different,” says Ricky Brown, coach of Florida Rugby Union. “Kind of like NFL versus Arena Football. Florida Rugby Union Select brings together the best Union players from over 12 teams across Florida.” Players to watch for Florida Rugby Union include Georry Luberice of Boca Raton Rugby and team captain Scott Waters of Sarasota Rugby. Come out and support your Jacksonville Axemen this Saturday at 5pm at UNF (field adjacent to Hodges Stadium). For more info go to www.jaxaxe.com.
