Gearheads and Hatchets face off in SERL Championship

The Jacksonville Axemen reserve grade teams are preparing for battle this weekend in the Southeastern Rugby League Championship game with the Daytona Gearheads versus the Jacksonville Hatchets. The Gearheads, coached by Axemen Craig Howitt, are eager to defend their title and be named the SERL Champions for the third year in a row. Daytona has always managed to come out on top but this year will be a challenge as the Hatchets have taken new structure under new coach Bob Knoepfel. “All of our reserve grade players have really adapted to to the Axemen’s pattern of play,” says Knoepfel. “With extra spots on the playoff roster, I am expecting fierce competition in every position.” The SERL Championship will kick off at 3:45pm, gates open at 3:30pm. You won’t want to miss this exciting pre-game match before the Axemen take on the DC Slayers at 5pm. For more info and full schedule go to www.jaxaxe.com.
