Jacksonville Touch Rugby
As a curtain raiser to our first home game of the season, the Jacksonville Touch Rugby Club will be featured playing pre-game when gates open at 4:30pm. Come out and learn more about what Touch Rugby is all about!
Touch finds its roots in Rugby League, originally used to warm up players, by replacing tackles with “touches”; it became an official sport in 1968 and has since evolved to be a regulated sport played in over 50 member countries. In Australia alone there are 500,000 registered adult participants and 400,000 registered children starting in school ages.
Andy Yi started the Jacksonville Touch Rugby club in 2014 and since then has grown the club to be one of the top Touch clubs on the East Coast. After only two years, Jax Touch took a team to USA Touch Nationals (which had 35 participating teams) and won the silver medal in the Co-ed division! Jax Touch seeks to attract players of all ages and skill levels. Jax Touch has players as young as 16 and have even had players come out in there late 50s. Whether you are interested in a getting fit and playing a social sport or have aspirations to go to Touch World Cup 2019 in Malaysia, Jax Touch has a place for you. In fact, Jax Touch has many former and current members of the Jax Axemen including: Shaun Timms, Sean Meehan, Sean Balaban, Desta Bailey, and Jax Axemen Hall of Famer Bob Knoepfel.
