Jacksonville Axemen Rugby League

The USA Pioneers vs. Leeds Rhinos game again saw some firsts for Rugby League in the USA, including a new sponsor that impressed the VIP’s

Although the scoreline of 76 to 0 was not what the Pioneers had hoped for, the experience gained by the players from across the USA Rugby League domestic competition was invaluable. 10 teams were represented on the Pioneers squad, and all have now taken the skills learned and excitement from the event back to share with their teammates. The game also provided an opportunity for the coaching staff, that featured Robin Peers from Boston, Craig Howitt and Gaz Walker from the Warriors and Danny Hanson from the DC Slayers, to find a common path for future teams. It was a great chance to get a number of coaches on the same page with a scheme, that will pay dividends for future representatives teams.

Of course the most important part of the game was to ensure that the Leeds Rhinos got everything they needed from it as part of their pre-season training camp, and based on the multiple reviews from the Coaching Staff and Players, it is apparent that the USA Rugby League, the Jacksonville Axemen, UNF and the fans from the Jacksonville area, have provided a first class experience. Brian McDermott hailed the camp as “The Best Yet” – http://www.therhinos.co.uk/news/25437.php
