Axemen Coach Mat Keeley named the top three players and MVP for the South Championship game vs the Central Florida Warriors:
1 Point- Steven “Meaty” Hill. “Meaty is certainly good in attack, but where he excelled last weekend was in his defense and it was really solid. It was good to see him get his confidence back after an injury earlier this year, and I hope to see it continue to the final.”
2 Points- Matt Thornton. “Matt Thornton hits like a machine, last weekend he played like an absolute leader and was outstanding. He was my winger in 2012 but developed into one of the best back rowers in only 8 games, and this just highlights his true athleticism.”
3 Points and MVP- Apple Pope. “Apple has been outstanding for us all year. I can’t count how many hit-ups and tackles he made today. We have some great leaders on this team; Apple Pope is one of the best and leads by example in every game.”
