Dr. Crenshaw, Axeman team physician
Steven Crenshaw, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine team physician for the Jacksonville Axeman. Dr. Crenshaw is with Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute (JOI) and serves as chief of Orthopedics for Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.
Dr. Crenshaw is a native of Jacksonville and a graduate of Emory University and the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, where he put in 10 years of service with the U.S. Army — finishing as chief of the Orthopedic Surgery Service at Darnell Army Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas.
Dr. Crenshaw has been with JOI since 1997 at practices in San Marco. In addition to sports medicine, his areas of expertise include adult reconstruction, joint replacements, general orthopedics and robot-assisted partial knee resurfacing.
“The Axeman will benefit greatly from having Dr. Crenshaw’s extensive expertise on the sidelines,” said (Axeman representative). “The sooner you can identify and treat an injury, the better chance of a full recovery for our players. Dr. Crenshaw is a great match for our team and we know he’ll keep us game-ready.”
No doubt, this is a sport that needs a well-versed and experienced team physician. “Rugby is one of the most physically demanding sports out there,” said Dr. Crenshaw. “I’m looking forward to keeping our Axeman strong and hopefully, injury-free for another successful season.”
Dr. Crenshaw also serves as the team physician for the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars and Jacksonville University Athletics. For an appointment with JOI, call 904.JOI.200
