The Jacksonville Axemen go into the 4th game of the season with a winning record at the half way point. The first game saw a satisfying 32-12 win over the SWFL Copperheads on the road. The Axemen roster, made up of several new players this season started off on top.
Next, the Hall of Fame game vs Axemen Legends of years past proved to be a good challenge for the young Axemen squad. The Rookies prevailed none the less against the Legends, and Axemen Legend Matt Thornton was inducted into the Jacksonville Axemen Hall of Fame.

Game two of the regular season was at UNF, when the Miami Shoremen traveled up to take on the Axemen at home. Miami, a new team again this season, was given a rugby league clinic by the more experienced Axemen, with a final score of 102-0.

Game three was the Axemen’s biggest challenge yet with a road trip to Tampa taking on the Mayhem. The Mayhem with a bigger and more experience team put up a tough fight against the Axemen. Injuries eventually took their toll on the team and Tampa won out in the end 46-16.
This puts the Axemen with 2 wins and 1 loss for the South Conference schedule so far, and will face each team again to close out the regular season. Next up is the SWFL Copperheads at home on Saturday, June 28th. Kick off time has been moved up to 6:30pm due to an issue with lights at the venue.
